- Abstract
If the historical facts of evangelism, more especially that of Africa, suggest that social action evangelism thrived at an early era as clearly pointed out by Baur, what hindrance denies its survival even now when we need it most? According to Meredith, the social media is used to build church.[13] The Concept of Social Action Evangelism Social action evangelism refers to the adoption of social actions as a means of disseminating the good news about Christ to the world. The church is quickly losing its essence over the history of laboring for soul winning and social transformation in Nigeria owing to the materialistic attitude of Christians and the church. Nigerian churches and Christians should constantly refresh their knowledge of their religious roots, namely the history of the pioneer European and American missions in Nigeria so that they may not totally lose the focus of true mission and evangelism.
