- Title
REFLECTIONS ON VIOLENCE, GUNS, AND THE DEFENSIVE USE OF LETHAL FORCE.
- Authors
POLSBY, DANIEL D.
- Abstract
An essay is presented on the law of self preservation and the defensive use of lethal force. It analyzes these concepts, including the moral basis of the law from the points of view of the attacker and the victim, with the author inferring that they cannot be used with definitiveness in legislative proposals to restrict the private ownership of guns. It argues that data correlating the reduction of crime incidents and gun prohibition laws are not conclusive and basically anecdotal and suggests that some form of private possession may be allowed.
