- Abstract
The study aims at shedding light on the knowledge transfer issue of intergenerational workforces in Petroleum institutions in an attempt to diagnose the state of knowledge transfer practice from pre-retiring workers generation to the newcomers in the institution. This is through identifying the state of practicing the most important programs of intergenerational knowledge transfer (mentoring, on-the-job training, training in the formation centers, ...) within the framework of the formation strategy and the human resources development, together with identifying the mechanisms preferred by the millennials in acquiring and learning knowledge in the institution. The case study method is adopted by using the interview and questionnaire tools to collect data of a sample study consist of 38 millennials in the National Institution for Works in Wells (ENTP). Thus, the study revealed that the institution does not currently rely on any specific program to transfer knowledge from pre-retiring workers to newcomers of the millennial generation; besides, the millennials prefer mentoring and training mechanisms to acquire tacit knowledge from older employees, while preferring the on-the-job training mechanism to learn the tacit knowledge in the institution, and prefer learning in the formation centers mechanism too so as to obtain the explicit knowledge more than any other means.
