- Abstract
The article presents a discussion on the Third United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS III) at the symposium "The Law of the Sea - Where Now?" held at Duke University School of Law in Durham, North Carolina on October 29-30, 1982. One of the members of the audience raised the issue that the Soviet Union was the first to oppose the Convention. Other issues discussed were the factors that resulted in an Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of 200 miles and the position of the U.S. on the Convention.
