- Title
THE FIRST ROUND OF LEGISLATIVE REFORMS IN THE POST-SERRANO WORLD.
- Authors
GRUBB, W. NORTON
- Abstract
The article discusses how various states are revamping their public education budgets as of January 1974 in light of the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in the Serrano versus Priest case. It reports that though the Supreme Court held that allocating money per school district based on its income level was not unconstitutional, it did allow districts to sue for more funds, opening several states to limited liabilities. In response, all have begun setting up processes to allocate more funds to depressed areas, struggling with limited budgets to do so.
