- Abstract
The article focuses on the expert medical testimony in compensation proceedings. It states that use of expert medical testimony in legal proceedings in both criminal and civil procedure has been the object of proposed reform for a long period of time. It states that though the psychiatrists who testify on the question of sanity in murder trials are the major subject of attack, medical experts called in for personal injury cases or the contest of wills has also not been free from criticism. It reports on the legal rules of evidence under the compensation law in the U.S. and states that the medical experts chosen in the compensation law is the one with insurance company practice.
