The article discusses the results of a case study designed to assess whether electronic tools effectively contribute to reducing corruption and increasing transparency in the purchasing process of the public sector in Italy. The article starts with an introduction of electronic tools in the purchasing sector of the Public Administration. The author then analyzes the feasibility, affordability, reliability and transparency of the Italian electronic procurement system.
