- Abstract
The first mucin characterized structurally was Mucin1 which have been carefully examined through the human female menstrual cycle and during the early pregnancy. In this study, MUC1gene expression level were investigated among infertile females and fertile females within their follicular phase and first trimester pregnant. Present report aims to examine MUC1 gene expression in infertile Iraqi Arab females. The study included one hundred women, fifty-one women with a history of infertility for a period more than one year who attended Al-Yarmook teaching hospital, Baghdad, Iraq from September 2020, to April 2021, twenty-five 25 pregnant in the first trimester, twenty-five 25 fertile women. Work state and monthly income were significantly related to the studied groups (P<0.05) and the mean BMI shows 28.84 ± 0.88 for infertile, 43.96± 16.80 for fertile and 25.84 ±0.56 for pregnant, while Abdominal circumference in the infertile was significantly more than pregnant and fertile females (0.039*) and significant high level in mean Ct of MUC1 gene for the infertile, fertile and pregnant respectively (17.94, 21.65 and 21.73). Present result shows that most affected age in Iraqi infertile females was from 20–25 years, work state and monthly income were related to the infertility in studied groups and most frequent causes of infertility cases came from females with normal weight and the muc1 gene is a low expression in women with infertility compared with other study groups.
