- Abstract
Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis is a monophasic, inflammatory, demyelinating central nervous system disease with various neurological manifestations. The diagnosis of the disease during infancy is rare in childhood age group. Here we present two patients who are under 2 years-old and presented with acute neurological symptoms and diagnosed as acute disseminated encephalomyelitis the result of further evaluation. Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis is diagnosed upon clinical and neuroimaging findings. Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of acute neurological symptoms or encephalopathy occurring after vaccination and non-specific infections. High dose corticosteroids are used successfully in the treatment.
