- Abstract
The article critically analyzes the applications of Robert Nozick's libertarian theory to state intervention in the economy. To do so, it firstly examines the philosophical construction of libertarian theory, especially the social interactions that gave rise to the minimal state. Based on a counterexample to the author's logical-rational path, a new deductive line is established, which is able to reinterpret the development of the State after the minimal State. Therefore, the interpretative method, as proposed by author, is used to validate the hypothesis that the Brazilian State can expand beyond the minimum without violating rights and moral restrictions, using the same initial premises formulated by Nozick2. In this case, the example discussed is the possibility of the state fostering technological innovation through public policies.
