- Authors
Loh, Keng Yin
- Abstract
This article discusses life's philosophy and euthanasia through Buddhist perspective. The practice of euthanasia is totally against the Buddhist philosophy. The first and important precept that a Buddhist would follow in cultivating compassion is abstinent from taking away the life of another being. In Buddhism, killing others and killing one self (suicide) are considered as very bad karma and is totally prohibited. The act of euthanasia, as an actually intentional destruction of human life by act or omission, is against the first precept in Buddhism teaching.
