- Abstract
Traditional models ignore international reserves, while the import demand function is associated with real income and relative import prices. However, it has been determined that international reserves are an important determinant of import demand during the studies carried out in the following period. In this context, the relationship between the import demand in Turkey and the amount of international reserve in this study was examined for January 2010 - January 2017 period. In addition to the Hacker-Hatemi J (2012) causality analysis, the Hatemi-J (2012) asymmetric causality test was used. According to the findings, the causality relation to imports from international reserves was obtained. In the case of positive shocks, any causality finding could not be reached, while in negative shocks it was a result of bi-directional relationship.
