- Abstract
The article presents a study which analyzes the effects of several pesticides and validates measurement of acetylcholinesterase activity (AChE) in the gill tissues of Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas or use in food quality tests or environmental evaluations. It relates that AChE has been used for testing the exposure of mollusk bivalves to pesticides and pollutants. The study is undertaken by exposing the oyster to dichlorvos, lindane, carbofuran, and oxamyl. The results of the study show that dichlorvos had the highest toxic effect and oxamyl and carbofuran pesticides are of lesser effects.
