- Abstract
This article presents the analysis of consumer behavior in the process of apples' certification. The study was carried out in the city of Santa Maria (Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil). The logistic regression model was applied to evaluate the profile of the consumer and his willingness to pay for certified apples. The results showed that the most part of the consumers do not value the fruit attributes related to the quality and safety of the food at the time of purchase. It was also verified that the set of socioeconomic characteristics of the consumers did not allow to draw a typology of the individual who values and who is willing to pay more to buy certified apples.
