This article presents information on AIDS disease among women in the U.S. Women represented about 18% of the nearly 80,000 U.S. individuals aged 13 and older who were diagnosed with AIDS in 1994. Seventy-seven percent of AIDS cases among women in 1994 were among blacks or Hispanics. The rate of new AIDS cases among white non-Hispanic women was 3.8 per 100,000, compared with rates of 26.0 per 100,000 among Hispanic women and 62.7 per 100,000 among Afro-American women.
