- Abstract
In this paper the authors deal with intergenerational relations in psychoanalytic training, focusing on different dynamics and challenges within and between generations. It is important to note that the relationship between the generations in training seems to have shifted in recent years towards a greater age difference between the actors. How does this possibly influence the individual relationships -- between training analyst and candidate or supervisor and supervisee? Besides possible offenses, tensions and resistance, opportunities and examples of successful generativity and common growth can be observed. By presenting scenes from their training, the authors aim to illustrate the challenges of becoming an analyst in the tension between the generations.
