- Title
"Who Would Not Write?" The Prophet as Yhwh's Prey in Amos 3:3-8.
- Authors
MILSTEIN, SARA J.
- Abstract
The article discusses the evolution of prophecy into written word during the ancient times in Mesopotamia. The author states that although ancient Near Eastern prophecy was intrinsically oral, 21st century scholars gain insight into the practice through the royal epistolary archives in the kingdom of Mari in 18th century BCE and archives of seventh century BCE Nineveh. She states that in the Biblical section of Amos 3:3-8, the prophet is presented as a vulnerable prey to the predator Yhwh.
