D'amour et d'or pur Les impératifs matérialistes du bonheur amoureux dans le roman sentimental québécois de l'après-guerre.

- Abstract
Still understudied, the sentimental post-war dime novels in Quebec provide an original representation of the happiness of love. Their protagonists contradict the stereotype of the humble and modest French Canadian born to a life of sacrifice. On the opposite, the stories make material comfort an inescapable condition of marital bliss. The analysis of a corpus of some fifty novels reveals that this script follows three main scenarios: the fairy tale, the moral test, and the condemnation of the lure of profit in the matter of love.
