The article discusses the essays in response to the two areas in eighteenth-century literary studies, the emotions and the print culture. It reveals that print culture is a historical and conceptual mess which antedates the culture and ostensibly gives rise by some two hundred years in literature. Also noted is the discussion on the problems raised by seventeenth and eighteenth-century philosophy.
