- Abstract
This paper presents opinions expressed by quality assurance evaluators from universities and ARACIS on the ESG 1.3 "Student centered learning, teaching and assessment" and its implementation in Romanian higher education system. These opinions were collected during three training sessions organized by ARACIS in early spring 2015, before the ESG were approved by the ministerial conference in Yerevan, May 2015. A comparison was performed between the understanding of the trainees of ESG 1.3 and the Guidelines related to it, keeping in mind that the Guidelines had not been made available to them before or during the sessions. The conclusion is that implementation of the concept of student centered learning, teaching and assessment should not be expected to lead to major difficulties in Romanian universities. Also, it was found from the answers of the trainees that they identified elements of this concept in other standards and in their corresponding guidelines, which confirms that all parts of the ESG should be considered in analyzing particular aspects of quality assurance.
