- Abstract
The article offers an overview of the origin and different principles of the cut-up literary technique. It explores the important role of author William S. Burroughs and his friend and colleague, Brion Gysin, in promoting the technique. Particular focus is given to the life and career of Gysin, considered as the first person who conceived the idea for this method. It also describes Gysin's use of simulation of multiple sense to affect his audience and to alter their perception and thoughts.
