- Title
Mapping the Mounds at the Yellow Bluffs Site (11LO2), a Middle Woodland Site in the Sangamon River Drainage of Central Illinois.
- Authors
Jackson, Douglas K.
- Abstract
The Yellow Bluffs site (11LO2) is located within the Sangamon River drainage of central Illinois. Professional and private collections from this site indicate this site locale was used throughout much of the prehistoric past, but the primary site occupation is associated with the Middle Woodland period. The Middle Woodland occupation consists of a habitation area and numerous small burial mounds. The mounds have been heavily impacted by looting activity over the years and the goal of the investigations reported here was to document the number, location, and condition of the existing mounds.
