- Title
Structure and Function of a Protein Mimicking Transfer RNA.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the joint research of RIKEN and the University of Tokyo scientists on the crystal structure and function of translation elongation factor protein (EF-P). It states that the EF-P is a tRNA-like L-shape protein that plays an essential role in the genetic information translation. It adds that the transfer of lysine moiety from GenX to EF-P is essential in the proliferation of Escherichia coli (E. coli), which make GenX a promising target for developing antimicrobial agents.
