- Abstract
The article presents information on the citizen petition process of the Environmental Commission of North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) for improving government performance and legitimacy. The issues related to North American environmental governance and the need of frameworks for the evaluation of citizen petition processes are discussed. The need of promoting enforcement and compliance in the regulatory process is also discussed.
