- Abstract
The article presents discussion of the portrayal and work of Jews within the motion picture industry in Los Angeles, California in the early 20th century. Details are given describing the entertainment industry at the time, noting the changes which occurred when commercial motion pictures became affordable. Several Jewish businessmen who entered into the motion picture industry are profiled, including Marcus Loew, Adolph Zukor, and Joseph Schenk. Commentary is also provided discussing the social status and portrayal of Jews within that sector.
