- Abstract
The article presents a historical review of the foundation of Herzl's Congregation in Seattle, Washington. It chronicles the formation and works of the congregation based on several articles and documents culled from various newspapers and Jewish archives. Among these are the setting of the cornerstone of the Herzl synagogue officiated by M. Robert Guggenheim, the commencement of the High Holy Day services in 1911 and the organization of Herzl's Ladies Auxiliary. It also features some of the prominent spiritual leaders of the congregation including Rabbi Baruch Shapiro, Rabbi Samuel Friedman and Cantor Sebastian Burnetti.
