- Abstract
A recent clinical trial conducted by Freund and colleagues investigated the impact of a 1-hour sepsis bundle in emergency departments for patients with suspected sepsis. The trial found that this intervention did not improve 28-day in-hospital mortality compared to standard care. The trial's design and execution were commendable, but it highlighted the challenges of designing future clinical trials in sepsis. The trial also raised questions about the feasibility of strict timeframes for intervention and the selection of appropriate endpoints. Overall, while the trial did not show significant improvement in outcomes, it provides valuable insights into the complexities of sepsis management and the need for a nuanced approach.
