Jung interviewt Alt -- Ein Lehrstück des Scheiterns.
- Authors
Apel, Linde
- Abstract
The article discusses the use of eyewitness interviews in secondary school history education in Germany and draws broader theoretical and methodological conclusions on this kind of teaching method. The author relates an incident in which a student project of a book with interviews of witnesses to the Nazi regime in Germany was almost derailed because one of the interviewees objected to the author's interpretation of his interview in an afterword she wrote for the collection. This proposed but unpublished afterword is reproduced as part of the article, addressing such themes as intergenerational relations, the methodology of oral history research, and National Socialism and collective memory.
