The article discusses the balance of power dominating Italian politics in the late medieval and Renaissance eras, especially in the later 1400s. Among other topics addressed are the evolution of a balance of power from the Lombard League, major Renaissance Italian city-states such as the republics of Venice and of Florence in Italy, and alliances of the period.
