The article presents a speech by the author, who is the Director of the Urban Sustainability Accelerator at Portland State University, delivered at the Ninth Annual Norman Williams Distinguished Lecture in Land Use Planning and the Law, held in Vermont Law School, Vermont on February 7, 2013, in which he discussed regulation of land use in the U.S. for sustainable development, reforming exclusionary zoning, and transportation planning.
