"Cadaver Conference Day": A Psychiatrist in the Gross Anatomy Course.
- Authors
Kennedy, Gary J.; Olson, Todd R.
- Abstract
The article describes how the Cadaver Conference developed within the "Clinical and Developmental Anatomy Course" by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City facilitates discussions of first-year student reactions to the dissection of a human cadaver. It notes that the goals for the course focus on a patient-centered approach to learning the basic human anatomy needed to prepare the student for preclinical course work. It cites that student dissection offers a rare avenue to promote clinician self awareness.
