This article examines the educational activism for grassroots of the Real Great Society (RGS), a Puerto Rican radical group in New York City, in the changing national and international contexts of 1950s to 1970s. Topics include the role RGS in educating poor and at-risk teenagers through community activism; and the efforts of RGS in turning apathetic neighborhood residents and gang members into community leaders and teachers.
