- Abstract
We consider the Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) protocol for wireless ad-hoc and sensor networks where energy matters. The idea consists on enhancing the reactiveness of mobile nodes within the network, especially when their residual energy decreases, by giving them the ability to be MultiPoint Relays (MPR). We present an improvement in the MPRs selection based on the willingness, by decreasing the low residual energy threshold for a node which is not selected as MPR. According to the OLSR protocol, nodes in the network are selected as MPRs due to two most parameters: WILLINGNESS and REACHIBILITY. In this paper, the willingness level is related to the residual energy of the node. Simulation results show that this solution increases significantly the lifetime of the ad hoc network by giving more chance for a node which has not been selected as MPR to be so.
