An essay is presented on the ethical project within D.H. Lawrence's novella "St Mawr." The author discusses the work of philosopher Emmanuel Levinas in regards to language and argument for the priority of ethics. Levinasian ethics are used to argue for discursive awareness within the novella. Also discussed is how the novella is a shift in stylistic sensibility.
