- Abstract
The article presents an abstract of the study "The Protective Effect of Melatonin Against MPP+-Induced Neuronal Degeneration Through Modulation of Glutathione Level in the Rat." The generation of hydroxyl free radical and endogenous antioxidant glutathione (GSH) have been implicated in MPP+-induced neurotoxicity in the CNS. Results show that melatonin can indeed protect CNS neurons against cytotoxic effects through mechanisms that regulate the levels of GSH.
