- Abstract
The article discusses a research study on microvascular free-tissue transfers (MFTT) in older people. Factors to consider in the preoperative phase in an elderly being subjected to a microsurgical operation include prolonged operation time due to microsurgical anastomosys, donor site morbidity and condition of recipient vessels. Perioperative prophylactic anticoagulation is recommended to satisfy such criteria. It concludes that MFTT can be safely performed in an elderly if the medical problem of the patient does not represent a handicap.
