- Title
GATA3: Everyday Marker Supporting Neuroblastoma, but Pitfall With Rhabdoid Tumors.

- Abstract
A letter published in the International Journal of Surgical Pathology discusses the diagnostic utility of the marker GATA3 in differentiating neuroblastoma from other pediatric malignant small round blue cell tumors. The authors highlight the underutilization of GATA3 in supporting the diagnosis of neuroblastoma, despite its routine use as a marker for metastatic carcinoma. They provide a case study where GATA3 expression strongly supported the diagnosis of neuroblastoma in a patient with a renal mass. However, the authors caution that rhabdoid tumors can also show strong GATA3 positivity, which could potentially lead to misdiagnosis. They recommend using a panel of immunostains to differentiate between these entities.
