- Abstract
A recent article in this journal entitled "Overview of plot-based vegetation classification approaches within Australia" provided details of the location and distribution of vegetation plots across Australia. Unfortunately no such data was provided for Western Australia, which occupies about one third of the continent, despite a significant number of datasets (6634 plots) collected over the period 1984 to present being freely available from governmental data portals. A map of location and density of these data is provided along with an updated table showing the distribution of vegetation plots by bioregions. The driving force for establishment of these plots was not vegetation mapping but rather to address questions of adequacy of reservation status, identify conservation priorities and develop an understanding of the drivers of community composition at a variety of scales.
