- Abstract
The article highlights the need of rethinking of the concept of trust in news media in the era of digital revolution in information media and journalism, as of September 2017. Topics discussed include idea of media trust with media reliance; notion of journalism ethics as based on an implicit social contract; and appropriate attitude related to trust that is evidence-based, skeptical reliance on media sources and stories; and ways in which digital reliance of media resulted in increased number of fake news, alternate facts, and ideologically motivated communicators.
