- Abstract
The article presents a study on the oxacarbenium ion intermediate mechanism of GH37 trehalase from European honeybees based on &#x03B1-Secondary deuterium kinetic isotope effects (&#x03B1-SDKIEs). It measures the &#x03B1-SDKIEs of the synthesized trehalose by honeybee trehase to determine the catalytic reaction mechanism. It reveals the validity of oxacarbenium ion intermediate mechanism in the hydrolytic reaction of glycosidases as well as unlikeness of nucleophilic displacement mechanisms.
