- Abstract
The article presents a study investigating the physiological impact of the monocarboxylic acid transporter (MCT)-mediated absorption and distribution. Fluorescein permeability was not increased with the induction of MCT 1 expression in Caco-2 cells treated with sodium butyrate as well as no increase in p-coumaric acid uptake whereas the uptake of salicylic acid was doubled.
