The article discusses the detection and prevention of insurance fraud in the U.S. Topics discussed include states' recognition of insurance fraud as a crime, mandatory fraud warning statutes for insurance fraud, and several anti-fraud laws of general application. Also discussed are the use of monetary rewards and qui tam provisions to detect insurance fraud and the powers and responsibilities of fraud bureaus.
