- Title
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY IN THE AGE OF HYDRAULIC FRACTURING IN THE UNITED STATES AND THE UNITED KINGDOM.
- Authors
BREWER, MARK K.
- Abstract
The article examines the state of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the U.S. and Great Britain in relation to the widespread use of hydraulic fracturing. It argues that the dominance of the shareholder value theory contributes to the environmental and social risks faced by local communities as it encourages energy companies to seek short-term gain. It also calls for revising the Anglo-American corporate law to be more responsive to CSR.
