The author offers an authoritative view of the works, challenges and future of the Richmond Progressive Alliance (RPA), a community/political group in Bay Area, California. He describes the economic, political and social situation in Richmond since World War II to 2001. He also discusses the goals of the RPA and the Richmond Greens. In addition, he describes the community issues that were addressed by the RPA following the election in 2006 and details events which led to the creation of the Office of Neigborhood Safety.
