The author offers his thoughts on the influence of showing films in the classroom in the education of students. He said that one way to prepare students for viewing films is to identify the similarities or connections between literary and filmic devices. He said that among the films which he identified as effective to students include "The Scarlet Letter," "The Lottery," "Romeo and Juliet," and "Beloved."
