- Abstract
The article presents some perspectives of students in the U.S. regarding the importance of culture on their ethnic identity. It cites that the students have expressed a sense of sadness at their school's lack of appreciation for their culture. One student asserts that her culture is important since it is an essential part of her identity and that it has taught her about her history and language. Another student discusses the role of her family in fostering culture and how it has impacted her life. Another emphasizes the importance of preserving one's culture.
