- Title
Study gauges impact of long‐term adjunctive antidepressant in bipolar depression.
- Abstract
Authors of a study of maintenance treatment with an adjunctive antidepressant in patients with bipolar I disorder and remitted depression concluded that 52 weeks of treatment did not result in significant improvement in time to occurrence of any mood episode compared with an 8‐week regimen. However, the study did suggest more favorable results for the longer‐term treatment in preventing relapse to depression. Study results were published Aug. 3, 2023, in the New England Journal of Medicine.
