- Abstract
This article discusses a rare case of bilateral non-necrotizing herpetic retinopathy (NNHR), which is an atypical form of viral retinitis caused by herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) infection. The patient, an immunocompetent young male, presented with sudden vision loss in both eyes and was diagnosed with NNHR based on clinical evaluation and PCR analysis of ocular fluids. The patient responded well to systemic antiviral and low-dose steroid therapy, with significant improvement in visual acuity and resolution of retinitis lesions. The authors emphasize the importance of early diagnosis and prompt treatment to achieve good visual outcomes in cases of NNHR.
