- Abstract
The article discusses the potential use of large language models (LLMs) in surgical education to address the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The study evaluates the ability of LLMs to assist junior doctors in providing advice for common ward-based surgical scenarios. The findings suggest that ChatGPT-4, a specific LLM, shows promise in delivering reliable and accurate information. The article also proposes a pedagogical algorithm called "DIACNOSE" to help structure exam answering techniques for surgical trainees. Additionally, the integration of mindfulness into surgery is explored as a way to improve surgical practice and enhance the overall experience for surgeons and patients.
