- Abstract
The article discusses cellular requirements for production and release of the lymphocyte costimulator (CoS). High levels of CoS activity are produced when normal spleen cells are activated by concanavalin A (Con A). Nude spleen cells produce little or no activity under these conditions. Thus. CoS production is a T cell-dependent phenomenon. Nylon wool purified T cells produce no detectable CoS activity when cultured with Con A. However, high levels of CoS activity are produced when nude spleen cells and T cells are cultured together in the presence of Con A.
